how to set up AG for another menu item

Admiror Gallery is free extension for Joomla! 1.6. Joomla! 1.7 and Joomla! 2.5 based websites. Admiror Gallery is all in one, a simple and instant solution for rendering image gallery from folder with images, but very flexible and adaptable.

how to set up AG for another menu item

#1 Post by bronte234 »

I successfully set up AG for a menu (called Publicity), so the root folder is called Publicity. I now want to use AG for a separate menu called Family Trees that will have a completely new set of images. Problem is, that even though I can point the new menu item details to AG, the root folder is set to Publicity and, thus, loads the images from Publicity and not Family Trees.

Is there a way to perhaps have a second root folder? Or can I have two sub-root folders, one for Publicity and one for Family Trees?

I have tried using other gallery components or plug-ins for Family Trees, but they are not as good as AG so I'd like to keep with this one. Thanks for advice.

Well you cannot have two root folders :)

But you can setup your AdmirorGallery in a way you cover both cases. If you put all of your images in /images folder, and you want to have different set of images organized by folders, for example:
/images/myGallery
/images/myvacation2013

So as you can see the folder /images contains both set of images. This means that Root Path in Control Panel in AdmirorGallery should be /images.

Now when you add a menu item where you want to display myGallery, you just set gallery name to myGallery.
For menu item to display vacation images you just add a new menu item of type Gallery Layout and set gallery name to myvacation2013.

The important thing is to set a root path as height in directory hierarchy as you need. You can just set "/" as root path, this would mean that the Joomla root is the AdmirorGallery root. In this case, for the previous example, gallery name would be images/myGallery and for vacation images/myvacation2013.

Hope this helps,
