Component not appearing

Admiror Gallery is free extension for Joomla! 1.6. Joomla! 1.7 and Joomla! 2.5 based websites. Admiror Gallery is all in one, a simple and instant solution for rendering image gallery from folder with images, but very flexible and adaptable.

Component not appearing

#1 Post by brianbattenfeld »

So I install the extension, but I don't see it appear under the "Components" menu, where I can manage the galleries etc. I'm running joomla 1.7.0 and admirorgallery 4.1.1 Any input would be great.

Hmm that's weird. Have you tried to remove it and install it again?

Yes, I have. Several times. Initially, because of our php setup, I was having permissions issues (apache not being in the owner's user group) so an install didn't go well. I uninstalled, changed our PHP setup, and got the plugin installed(looked successful, with it's welcome message and everything), but nothing for the admirorGallery shows up under "components", so I can't organize galleries etc. We chose this because RokGallery was a nightmare with the absurd, un-fixed bugs, but this has grown to be quite a pain as well with very little support.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. It looks like a great, simple plugin which is why I'd like to stick it out and get it up and running, but I've hit a wall here. Thanks.

Does Joomla say it installed correctly when you go through the process, or does it throw up an error??

I would image the next easiest thing to do is to send Vasiljevski an email with username and password for access to your back end setup so that he had have a dig around and try to work out what's wrong. :)

Oh, and the support is here, it might just be a tad slow on occasion due to family stuff happening. I'm not affiliated with the boys who do, but I try my damndest to be of the most help I possibly can here (I am a moderator) to help them out.

Hi, i have this problem, too. Using Joomla 2.5.7.
Installed and uninstalled serveral times, tried differend versions of admiror gallery.

Extension Manager says: Installing plugin was successful.
Plugin was enabled then.
But Component never shows up.

Hmm, first of all, we have to be clear on what are you trying to install :)

If you install a plugin, than it is quite natural that it cannot be seen in components section :)

For Joomla! above 1.5.xx we do not have universal installer, yet. So you need to install Component, Plugin and Button separately. As described in the post where you can download Joomla! 2.5 release.

Can you post the file name of the zip archive you have been trying to install? Just to check what is installed and what is expected behavior.

As Bifford said, there is an option to send me user and pass for back-end access, but I like to save that only for emergency or last resort, when nothing else helps :)

Hey, thanks for the responses guys, and dont' worry, I don't want to waste your time asking you to do this yourself unless there's no other option. As for the the component/plugin/module thing is a little new to me as I'm coming from a wordpress background, but according to the instructional videos, I upload the zip file, and then everything should be there. I haven't seen a separate download for "component" vs the plugin. The zip file I got was "plg_admirorGallery_4.1.1.zip". Again thanks for the response, and thanks in advance for any further help.

ahh :) Problem solved!

Goto:

http://www.vasiljevski.com/forum/viewto ... f=34&t=623

which is back up one in This sub-forum and at the bottom of the list.

Uninstall the version you currently have installed, download and install the three things in the first post of that thread, and away you go! :D
