White page when adding tags

First of all, I'm running Joomla 1.5.22. I'm trying to put a gallery inside an article (using the {AG}dir{/AG} tags).

When I first tried to use the gallery, it said GD support wasn't enabled.

I installed php-gd5 and recompiled php. I did phpinfo() to verify GD support was enabled (which it is for compatibility with 2.0.34).

When I went back to the article and tried to use the tags, when I refreshed the page it only showed a white screen with the post BEFORE it on there (template, css, etc were all stripped, just white with black text from the post before).

Anyone have any ideas? I also tried using the insert function from the editor plugin.

Any help is much appreciated!

Well, you can try to reinstall the whole component, but I'm not to optimistic about this to solve the problem.

The other cause can be the permissions on your server, you should check that.

And the last but no least, check the memory_limit variable in your PHP ini, if the image is large and the limit is small blank page shows, you can check more about this here: http://www.vasiljevski.com/forum/viewto ... =115&p=421

I've tried reinstalling the component, and I've also checked permissions. Just to be clear, though, which directories should I be particularly concerned with?

I'll look into the last part today. From the post you linked me to, I'm beginning to think that is it, since the files I'm uploading are ~3mb each.

Thanks for the reply! I'll post back as soon as I know something.

It shows my memory_limit is 128 M and my max_execution_time is 30

I'm not sure how to change it, but I'm not sure if that's the issue. I drastically reduced the images, until none of them were over 225 KB in size (reducing the size of the image 15% x 15%, so it also reduced the resolution accordingly due to what I read on the topic); still no luck, white screen.

I also assume it might be worth noting that inside the folder in question, it created a preview and a thumbs folder.
The preview folder has index.html inside it, but the thumbs folder is empty.

Also in a perhaps similarly-related issue, when I go to the control panel, everything works fine. But, when I click "Image Manager," it goes to a completely white screen.

The info on the installation is as follows:

Server:

PHP Version: 5.2.9
Web Server: Apache
Web to PHP Interface: apache2handler
Joomla Version: Joomla! 1.5.22 Stable [ senu takaa ama woi ] 04-November-2010 18:00 GMT

Admiror:
Component Version: 3.0.172
Plugin Version: 3.0.3
Button Version: 1.0.1

In the post_max_size part of phpinfo, it says 8 M. I'm putting the galleries INSIDE articles; should this matter?

Can you give me access to the administration part of you site so I could check what is happening?

If you can, you can send me PM with username and pass, and a link to your site :)

Note the gallery in question is on the left bar under "Wedding" for "Plans"

The folder inside stories is named "engagement" so I was putting:

{AG}engagement{/AG} at the bottom of the post. The post was the bottom one on the page.

Thanks a lot!

Well it looks like the GD library is the problem. This is taken from your phpinfo:

GD Support enabled
GD Version bundled (2.0.34 compatible)
GIF Read Support enabled
GIF Create Support enabled
PNG Support enabled
WBMP Support enabled
XBM Support enabled

As you can see JPEG Support is missing, and this is the reason the gallery is crashing.

Thank you very much for all your help, I'll look into how to enable that o_O

So it looks like the libraries are already installed? At least from what I've read, all I need to do is add:

Code: Select all

--with-jpeg-dir=DIR
So my current PHP config is:

Code: Select all

'./configure' '--prefix=/usr/local/php' '--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql' '--with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs' '--enable-ftp' '--with-config-file-path=/etc' '--enable-calendar' '--enable-zip' '--with-mcrypt' '--with-zlib' '--enable-mbstring=all' '--with-gd'
Could I just add:

Code: Select all

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/php --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --enable-ftp --with-config-file-path=/etc --enable-calendar --enable-zip --with-mcrypt --with-zlib --enable-mbstring=all --with-gd --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib
EDIT: Tried it, still white, but JPEG still not enabled, so I'm still looking into that

I read here:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/image.installation.php

That the library is localed in the GD install dir, so I did:

Code: Select all

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/php --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --enable-ftp --with-config-file-path=/etc --enable-calendar --enable-zip --with-mcrypt --with-zlib --enable-mbstring=all --with-gd --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local/gd
and still nothing, still working though! Just posting all this since maybe it will help someone somewhere along the line.

Though I just read this:
If you have already compiled php without jpeg support and decide you want it , then before you compile again you might need to run "make clean" first.
but for my purposes it seems not to matter since I've tried that as well, the only thing I can come up with is that I'm missing where the lib is for jpeg somewhere.

I've also tried:

Code: Select all

apt-get install libjpeg*
From the back end.

I also read something about:

Code: Select all

--enable-so
option to pass to it, but I didn't entirely understand it so I didn't try it yet.

LAST EDIT:

I believe that I'm completely stumped here, so I'm going to stick with just using png (I prefer png anyways, I just don't like leaving something undone that I can't figure out).

Anyways, thanks a lot for the help, Admiror Gallery is wonderful!
