When i type the code into an article using JCE editor, for example;

{AG}gallery{/AG}

Once i have clicked save (joomla 1.7) the brackets around the gallery name disappear and i have to type them in again.

Why is this happening?

I guess that JCE editor has an option for cleaning HTML code from the text, try to switch to Source view (Toogle Source View button) and see what is happening.

There can be two possibility's. JCE is changing your code while you type, or ,what is more likely, that on save it converts { char to HTML encoding or even removing it.

In both cases you should check you JCE options. You could also try to use default editor to check this behavior.
