Firstly I am very sorry if I post this in the wrong place, I have been at this for hours and I am tearing my hair out!

Could anyone tell me A) why I can't see the Admiror component in my Menus (like all the tutorial videos show?) Is it because I am using Joomla 2.5? and B) could someone please explain the adding a discription to images bit? the online tutorial just isn't working for me? It says

Description and Localization

Admiror Gallery enables you to add multilanguage description (caption) for each of your image. Here what you have to do:

1. Add a file with the same name as the image you wont to add some description and give it an extencion *.desc
2. In the file add {default}[image description]{/default}, if current selected language is not found in description file this value will be used
3. For every language add {[language code]}[image description]{/[language code]}, example: {sr-yu}Planina Rtanj kod Sokobanje{/sr-yu}
4. Save the file

So I made a blank .txt file in notepad like this

{default}[This clock shows Thistles, Code:TH1 Price: £22]{/default}

I saved it as clock22.desc and saved it right next to the image file clock22.jpg, and it dosn't work :(

I guess none of you will be surprised to hear that didn't work.

One of the tutorials online http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr1SpOk- ... r_embedded shows the admin going into a whole menu that I don't have, and in there he/she type in a description and BANG! it appears.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some answers?

Again sorry for being thick!

Don

Firstly greetings and welcome to Admiror Gallery :)

Secondly I imagine you are using AG 4 rather than AG 3 as you are using Joomla 2.5. In which case you would be correct in your assumption that the reason you do not get a module or componant is because of this fact.

AG3x is a componant+module+plugin = the whole shebang including a front and back end module. Currently however AG4 is only a plugin which means you as admin can handle and display all the galleries etc but it can only be done from the back end and 3rd parties can not change anything without back end access.

However I do believe our little AG elves are nearing completion of the componant version of AG4x. Basically with joomla 2x a total rewrite was needed as so many things had been changed (for the better) and so AG3 was incompatible on numerous levels.

I'll try to answer B. after dinner! :)

As been said, you are using only the plugin, because it was the easiest part to move to Joomla 2.5!

Tutorial display managing images from component part.

Tutorial is displaying 3.0.185 version, and it is Joomla 1.5, only, for now at least :)

Description adding is not used as it is described in the manual, we use XML files instead, now.

I wrote a post on the format of the language XML here : viewtopic.php?f=30&t=548&p=2097&hilit=descriptions#p2097

Check it out, and let me know if it is good written, so I could add it to the manual for future reference :)
